Holidays are all about celebrating, relaxing, enjoying, and generally having a good time. But sometimes, people go overboard - both before and after the new year. This is where wellness takes the backseat, resulting in health issues, extreme exhaustion, and even depression. During the holiday season, you are not sticking to your regular routine. Instead, your body faces a completely different one such as unusual sleep patterns, a different diet, and increased or decreased physical activity.
Since the holidays are all about enjoying, many people tend to put their healthy habits aside and assume that it wouldn't affect them once they go back to their regular routine. However, in reality, once your body makes a sudden shift towards a different routine and then another sudden shift when it is reintroduced to the old routine, it causes problems that might take a while to get rid of.
So, how do you start getting back to normal?

1. Portion Control
The holidays come and bring with them fun, celebration, and lots of delicious food. They make out to be the perfect opportunity to grab a bite of your favorite food. But, it is also a time when you can easily get carried away and end up eating more than you would normally do.
Eating large portions of food may be the best thing about a holiday, but they can result in you feeling unwell, tired, and overly exhausted. If you are indulging in high-caloric foods for a week or so, it could result in you gaining a pound or two by the end of the holiday.

2. Stay Active
The holiday season comes around during the winter, which stays long after they are gone. This already plays a key factor in making you feel lazy and want to relax. But, when a lack of exercise meets high-caloric foods, it always results in a person feeling unwell, tired, and unenergetic. Because of this, you have to ensure that you engage in some sort of activity. Take this opportunity to get some quality bonding time with your family or friends while going on walks together.
3. Avoid Sugary Drinks & Alcohol
As mentioned above, the holiday season is all about enjoying all the foods that you generally wouldn't on a regular basis. This can also include increased use of sugary beverages like juices and sodas and alcoholic drinks. Not to mention that holiday dinners often result in a lot of drinking and enjoying, but this is where you have to be careful and make sure to hydrate yourself in between your wine glasses.
